seeing it finally...

as for our home update... we have people over there trying to clean out and suck out all the water in the carpets. they'll be there for a couple of days, they said past midnight tonight for starters.

they are going to try to dry it all out with big dehumidifiers and fans, but there is no guarantee it will work, we'll have to see the condition of the carpet after all's dried out. the baseboards have all warpped off the walls, and will need replacing. they used this xray vision contraption to see how high the moisture has seeped into the walls, and it looks like it's about 2 feet high. so after they bring in the dehumidifiers over night, we'll see how much that level will drop. if it doesn't go away, they will have to saw off two feet of wall from ground up and replace all the dry wall. it's a royal pain!!! walking around our home was like walking in swampy clean carpet! i was wearing crocs, and the water just gushed in each step i took. so very depressing...

all our bookcases we left behind was all water damaged too since it's particle board, it will balloon and expand and are ruined. all our cabinets, in the kitchen in the bathroom are all damaged too. i didn't realize that when the water started flowing, it was pressurized water, so it sprayed all over the kitchen, so even the upper cabinets were water soaked!!! sigh...

better not harp on it too much more about it... too depressing...

on the up side... we are thankful for concerned and helpful neighbors. our building super, came by and assessed the damage and gave us recommendations on what questions to ask and what to do regarding the construction aspects of the home. other neighbors came to just lend support. it was so comforting that people stuck around. even if they couldn't do anything, they stayed for a while to just tell us how terrible they feel for us. and even though that's all they could do, they did and that was more than enough... to know that we weren't the only ones thinking this was such a terrible thing. it helped us feel saner...

our neighbor told us that there was a puddle outside our home yesterday night around 9pm, so now we know this happened sooner than last night. maybe in the day or earlier still... this is important because mold takes 72 hours to grow, so we are cutting it close to the time.

pray that we won't have mold problems... it will be a pain to deal with that. all we know is the damage is very significant!!! in the tens of thousands of dollars!!!
