bad bad news...

around 2 pm today, we got a phone call from our real estate agent telling us that our home was broken into. he told us that theives tried to take our appliances.

we had moved out of our home about 3 weeks ago to sell it. we moved a block away to jean's parents home. we followed instructions from our real estate agent to turn off the alarm. we moved almost all our stuff out except for our nice (expensive) furniture to "stage" the house. make it look more lived in and attractive.

when chiyang went to our home, we found the front door smashed. the dishwasher gone, the oven range gone, our tv gone, our entertainment system gone, even the ps2 we got for our wedding from our small group, and yes, finding nemo was in it!!! that's cody's only loss... phew... and the most frustrating part was, when the theives tried to steal the fridge they broke the pipe connecting the fridge to the plumbing. it flooded the whole house!!! since we have a single storey home, literally every sq inch of hte house is flooded. all the furniture we left behind is water damaged. the walls have water marks and are damaged too. the carpet will probably need to be replaced too. cody's napping so i haven't seen it, but from what he tells me, it's very depressing. we feel a great sense of violation. that someone would come into our home knowing it's vacant and on the market, to just rip off every single item left, and to leave damage that is probably going to be 4 to 5 times worth the items they took. (correction, actually it the damage might cost 10 times the items stolen's worth!!!)

we also feel a sense of "has satan have enough with our family?" chiyang was meeting with the pastor less than 10 mins when we found out. jean was trying to get to an important planning meeting with a lady who's helping out with the quarterly women's event this saturday. satan's timing is always perfectly and strategically damaging to us! can't he give us a break!?!

we do have prayer requests...

1. pray for the crooks! pray that they will be convicted of their wrong doing and will stop, or be stopped soon!
2. pray that insurance will cover it. our concern is, our home is insured as a house with a security system, but the real estate broker told us not to turn it on, so that when other agents come to see it, it won't be set off.
3. pray that that damage will not be as extensive as we think it is. and that the repair will not be as costly.
4. that the lord will continue to be glorified throughout this ordeal

thanksgiving
1. that we are all well and not harmed by this incident
2. that we have friends and family who love us and have stretched out to us during this time
3. that we have insurance!!!

thank you all. we'll keep you posted.
