Post Surgery
today has been a long day... woke up at 530am to get chiyang to the doctor's office (actually it's an outpatient surgery center) by 630am.
surgery didn't start till 8am. they needed him to sign documents and also to help him get happily sedated for the surgery.
the most exciting part for me was the doctor asked if i wanted to come in to watch!!! so i did!!! i'm not faint-hearted when it comes to blood so i was really excited!!! i got to hold chiyang's hand through the surgery and oh yes! got to watch the whole thing!!! i stayed out of the way and sat next to the anestisiologist (sp?). it was a minimally invasive surgery, so there were two metal tubes placed into chiyang's back on both sides, and they put cameras into his spine so we could watch on the TV screen what was going on in the spine. very cool!!!!
the surgery took about 1.5 hours and there was a lot of stuff they had to remove. actually, after the surgery, doctors and nurses were astounded at how long chiyang went without surgery. they all said things like "and you waited that long? i wouldn't be able to last three months!" note... this injury happened in may last year.
i just hope that chiyang will find the relief he so desires and that the reoccurance would be minimal...
chiyang's suppose to take it easy for the next few months as his nerves and body recovers. this means we'll probably have to hire movers when we move and i'll probably be busier with cody since chiyang can't pick him up or do anything too active with him... sigh...
i'm just so thankful my mom is here to help out. this was all unplanned, so God's been very gracious with the timing of everything... thank you lord!
